Grace Khieu '16

MEDIA MANAGER  |  GKHIEU@YORK.ORG

By Andrea Sanico, Main Office Manager

Grace Khieu is a shy, somewhat introverted girl, who… NOT! A different life ago when not always comfortable with her own voice, Grace took social media platforms by storm, faced down the disquieting voice on one shoulder (knocked it off, actually) and has been breaking out full steam ahead ever since!

A 2016 York Alum, Grace continued finding, using, and helping others with her voice and own experiences—“I encourage the art of embracing failure, believing in the pursuit of passions, and doing things for the greater good.” And that she does. Using social media as a platform to kick anxiety to the curb, Grace has gone further helping others through not only Instagram, but TEDx where she was not only a speaker at the first York TEDx, but has also been York’s TEDx production manager for the last few of years, “helping empower young people and being part of giving them a platform to talk about their ideas.” All the while, she was living in San Luis Obispo to earn a B.S. in Graphic Communication from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a concentration in Management. Even there, she put her skills and her experiences to use with freelance work capturing unique stories through photography, videography, and design, adding the timeless memories of wedding photography to her resume.

We are fortunate enough to have Grace back with us at York where she assists with school communications, videography, is the Yearbook Coordinator, and assists with all digital communications. Grace plans to continue to freelance as she works part-time in the education environment. She aims to be an advocate for the students who are in the margins and hopes to give opportunities and support to those who need it.
